My name is Lettie and I turn 8 in November 2018
Instead of presents, I want to help children who are fighting cancer.
I want to raise $1,000 for World Child Cancer
Hear Lettie's appeal
Hi! I’m Lettie, and I turn 8 this year! When my sister turned 8, she raised $1,000 for clean water and education for children in Uganda. For my 8th birthday, I want to raise $1,000 to help children fight cancer.
This summer, my sister and I had a FREE lemonade stand and we asked people for donations. We raised £35 ($46) in one hour. It was really hot that day and that helped (and we got to drink the lemonade too).
Instead of presents, I want to raise money and help children who need it. I also would like a surprise, and my dad is getting me the surprise (it is probably Lego or something to learn programming).
Here is some information from the World Child Cancer website:
Who I want to help
Every year 300,000 children develop cancer. 80% of children with cancer in the developed world will now survive, but sadly survival rates are as low as 10% in the developing world.
Why World Child Cancer
Their vision is a world where every child, regardless of where they live, receives the best possible treatment and care, and is able to realize their ambitions and dreams.

Your Donation Helps
(This is from the World Child Cancer website)
Your donation will help to increase access to an early diagnosis for children like 9 year old Lucia. It took over 3 months and multiple journeys to Hospital de la Niñez Oaxaqueña in Mexico for Lucia to be properly diagnosed. An early diagnosis could have saved Lucia from ongoing pain, and saved her family from being pushed further into poverty through expensive travel and drug costs.
$11
(or £8) could pay for one week’s worth of pain relief medication for 3 children with cancer
$35
(or £25) could pay for an accurate diagnosis of a child with cancer
$70
(or £50) could fund training for a healthcare worker on the early warning signs of childhood cancer
Thank you!
Thanks for helping me celebrate my 8th birthday!!
